Goals and Outlook

Goals and Vision of the Vice Chancellery for Research & Technology

Today, universities play an unparalleled role in the advancement of knowledge, economy, and culture in every country. In addition to educating a generation endowed with scientific knowledge, critical thinking, and loyalty to enduring societal values, they can adopt the management models of third- and fourth-generation universities to contribute to the production of science and technology as well as the wealth derived from both.
Universities must prepare themselves to address local, national, and international challenges by thoroughly understanding the pressing issues of their society. Accordingly, the Vice Chancellery for Research & Technology at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, leveraging its geographical and structural advantages—including being home to the oldest university in western Iran, bordering Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, its central position in western Iran serving over 5 million people, over 500 faculty members, two research institutes and 13 research centers, one Health Technology Incubator, and 11 knowledge-based companies, along with an annual scientific output of more than 700 publications—aims to establish itself not only as an active contributor to the country's scientific advancement but also as an internationally recognized university ranked among the top 500 globally.
Utilizing the energy and creativity of its student population, the expertise and experience of its faculty, the support of a committed and capable administrative staff, and the balanced development of various academic domains through the launch of essential new programs at different levels are among the effective mechanisms envisioned to achieve this goal.
The Vice Chancellorship Office includes the following entities: Research Affairs Management, Medical Information and Scientific Resources Management, Student Research Committee, Health Technology Center including a Health Technology Incubator, the University’s Office of Industry Relations, and the Intellectual Property Committee. Together, these units strive to fulfill the university’s local, national, and international missions successfully.
